Daylight Saving Time and Trading Server Time Explained

How FXTRADING.com trading-server time follows US daylight saving on all current platforms, with US start/end rules, regional DST dates and how trading-hour changes are announced.

Daylight saving dates differ by region. Your local clock, a market's clock and the trading server clock are separate time references.

FXTRADING.com server time

FXTRADING.com trading-server time follows the US daylight-saving schedule across all current trading platforms, including MT4, MT5, web-based trading platforms and the FXTRADING.com App. When US daylight saving starts on the second Sunday of March at 02:00 US local standard time, our server offset changes from GMT+2 to GMT+3; local clocks move forward to 03:00. When it ends on the first Sunday of November at 02:00 US local daylight time, our server offset changes from GMT+3 to GMT+2; local clocks move back to 01:00. These are US local clock times, not the trading-server clock display. To convert the switch to another location's time, the relevant US time zone and destination time zone are needed. Not every US region observes daylight saving. Check a fresh connected-platform timestamp and the selected instrument's current sessions; do not calculate an offset from a stale quote.

How are trading-hour changes announced?

FXTRADING.com may adjust the trading hours of certain instruments in response to standard-time and daylight-saving changes in the United States, Europe and major Australian regions. We notify customers in advance. The affected products and updated trading hours are specified in the FXTRADING.com announcement or email for that change. Product availability can change; do not assume the same instruments are affected every time. The affected list may stay the same or change between notices. It is not necessarily different every time; confirm the list in each FXTRADING.com announcement or email.

Recurring regional rules

  • United States, observing areas: starts on the second Sunday in March at 02:00 local standard time, moving to 03:00; ends on the first Sunday in November at 02:00 local daylight time, returning to 01:00. Hawaii and most of Arizona do not observe; other regional exceptions exist.

  • European Union: starts on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October, both at 01:00 UTC. Local clock-change times depend on the time zone. This is not a rule for every European country.

  • United Kingdom: on the last Sunday in March, 01:00 GMT becomes 02:00 BST; on the last Sunday in October, 02:00 BST becomes 01:00 GMT.

  • Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra and Adelaide start on the first Sunday in October at 02:00 local standard time, moving to 03:00; end on the first Sunday in April at 03:00 local daylight time, returning to 02:00. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not observe. Check the specific location for regional exceptions.

Date examples

2026: US March 8-November 1; EU and UK March 29-October 25. The Australian season in the cities above starts October 4, 2026 and ends April 4, 2027. FXTRADING.com trading-server time follows the US dates above; the other regional dates describe local clocks and may affect particular instrument sessions under FXTRADING.com notices.

Before converting a trading time

Identify the date, city/time zone and whether the stated time is local, UTC or FXTRADING.com trading-server time. Regions change clocks on different weeks, so a time difference can temporarily change. A clock change does not by itself establish a symbol's trading hours, rollover charge or holiday schedule.
